Labasheeda live @ NXNE in 2009

Back in 2009 Labasheeda was invited to play at the North by Northeast festival, so they decided to book some more shows in Canada and do their first tour outside of Europe. Exciting times! Labasheeda was a quartet at that moment, but unfortunately the bassist couldn’t make it, because he lost his passport shortly before we were about to leave.

The band did two shows in Toronto, which were both filmed by Aldo Erdic. He edited a live video for one of the songs we they at a club called Sneaky Dee’s, but the set during NXNE remained in the Labasheeda vaults. Until now, because the complete performance at Neutral is now available on their YouTube-channel.

(When Labasheeda played at NXNY the well received EP ‘A Few of a Polulation‘ was only 2 months out by then.)

In recent years, there has been a focus on expanding the market with more small DIY labels, but we are also constantly looking for creators and representatives from various corners of art and culture who want to have a stall at the market. The Independent Label Market primarily represents independent music, but to us, it stands for everything related to independent art and culture. Expect record labels, artists, publishers, and of course, musicians.

On 31 Jan Alex Nahas did an online only live broadcast from NYC’s iconic Rockwood Music Hall celebrating his new release of ” Where The Ocean Once Was”

With a great performance of the song “Nine Times” with his magic band. With Setch Szendrody (drums), Marco Bolfelli (guitar), Emily Savannah (vocals), Meg Massalone (vox), and Alex Nahas (vox and Chapman Stick).

On 25 September Presto Chango Records will be with a stand @ de Onafhankelijke Label Markt in Amsterdam.

On the Independent Label Market, music companies display and sell their stuff directly to the public. Labels join forces and present their goods: CDs, exclusive vinyl records, special editions, books, posters, fashion, and design.

On Sunday September 19, from 12:00 – 18:00, as usual in the shaded surroundings of Amsterdam’s Tolhuistun.

This year co-hosted by Koen (Subroutine) and Marcel (Subblicous / Smikkelbaard), together with residents Excelsior Recordings.
