Bright Brown’s new full length, Whispering Gallery
The reflective and quirky Whispering Gallery is the first all-acoustic record from alt singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Alex Nahas, also known as Bright Brown. While Nahas is primarily known for using the Chapman Stick, he composed these new songs on a unique acoustic version of the instrument built by Mark Harrington of Dragonfly Tapping Guitars.
Continuing the environmentally immersive approach of his previous release, Where The Ocean Once Was, Nahas began this project alone in a cabin on the Maine coast during the winter of 2024. Armed with mobile recording gear, the Dragonfly Tapper, and his journal, he composed and recorded the first four songs in just five days. This includes the lead single, “Dropping Silence,” which was written during a heavy twelve-hour snowfall. The accompanying music video features cell phone footage of the Maine terrain shot and edited by Nahas.
In addition to his signature tap style guitar, the record features Nahas on percussion, drum kit, melodica, guembri, and whirly tubes, with ambient backing vocals by Gabby Sherba of Yesterday And The Undoing.
